A 32-year-old Romanian national has been arrested by State Police on stalking charges against his attorney. The man is accused of engaging in a persistent campaign of harassment. The situation escalated to a Red Code protocol—Italy’s emergency measure for gender-based violence—when the lawyer reported her former client’s behavior to officers at the Vescovio Police Station.
The legal professional told investigators that after providing him legal counsel on multiple occasions, the defendant began to make romantic advances, which were not reciprocated.
Following the rejection, the man allegedly began to harass the lawyer with increasing intensity. He repeatedly showed up uninvited at her law office and placed incessant calls to her business line, using a different number each time to circumvent being blocked.
Upon conclusion of the State Police investigation, the Rome Prosecutor’s Office requested and obtained a protective measure for the woman from a Preliminary Investigations Judge. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.
