On the occasion of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, the ‘Anello della Regina’ (Queen’s Ring) award returns, honoring the driver who secures pole position.
The jewel, crafted by master goldsmith Guido Guzzi, was presented today in a preview event at Palazzo Lombardia. The initiative is promoted by the Scuderia Ferrari Club of Caprino Bergamasco and was conceived by entrepreneurs Antonio Mariani and Enrico Squarzina.
According to the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, this is “an excellent idea that combines one of the greatest sporting events in our country with the history and tradition of the territory. It celebrates, in a single unique item, the Iron Crown, the memory of Queen Theodolinda—one of the emblems of Monza—and above all, the exceptional craftsmanship typical of the Brianza region.”
The ring’s design evokes the plates that form the Iron Crown and incorporates motor racing symbolism with a checkered flag and the Italian Tricolore.
