Pisa Prosecutor Teresa Angela Camelio has confirmed no criminal conduct was found in the death of 20-year-old Palestinian Marah Abu Zhuri, stating “no autopsy was ordered and burial authorization for the remains has already been issued.” Camelio made the statement to ANSA when queried about potential further forensic examinations. Abu Zhuri died on August 15th in a Pisa hospital, where she had been admitted two days prior as part of an Italian government-organized medical evacuation of Palestinian civilians from Gaza, executed by the 46th Air Brigade.
Separately, Imam Mohammad Khalil of Pisa reported that Prefect Maria Luisa D’Alessandro expressed “her human closeness” to Abu Zhuri’s mother during a half-hour meeting at the prefecture. “We spoke only about the girl’s burial,” Khalil stated upon leaving. While the exact timing remains uncertain, Khalil confirmed Abu Zhuri will be buried in Italy, likely in Pisa or the nearby municipality of San Giuliano Terme. “Mayor Matteo Cecchelli was the first to offer availability,” he added.
