The Milan Review Court has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow to consider the appeal by property developer Manfredi Catella against his court-ordered house arrest. The founder of Coima sgr is expected before the judges at 9:50 AM. He was arrested on July 31st by order of preliminary investigations judge (GIP) Mattia Fiorentini as part of the Milan Prosecutor’s Office’s investigation into urban planning.
In recent weeks, the Review Court has already ruled on the appeals of the five other individuals arrested in the case. It replaced house arrest with a one-year ban from public office for former city councilor Giancarlo Tancredi, former Landscape Commission president Giuseppe Marinoni, and manager Federico Pella. The arrests of Alessandro Scandurra and Andrea Bezziccheri—the latter of whom had been the only one jailed—were overturned.
Through his lawyers, Francesco Mucciarelli and Adriano Raffaelli, Catella recently filed a brief arguing that a €28,500 invoice issued by Alessandro Scandurra’s firm to Coima Sgr was “not at all false.” For the GIP, this invoice was “solely functional” in justifying an alleged corrupt agreement.
