Precautionary Hotel Evacuation Near Grosseto as Fire Halts Rome-Pisa Rail Service

A hotel on the southern outskirts of Grosseto was evacuated as a precaution due to a wildfire erupting near railway tracks between the Tuscan city and Alberese station on the Tirrenica line to Rome. Rail traffic on the Rome-Pisa route remains suspended.

Fire crews confirmed the hotel and several nearby residences were threatened by the flames, prompting the evacuation. However, by evening, firefighters reported that suppression efforts had significantly reduced the blaze and operations were progressing towards full containment.

Four firefighting teams and volunteers coordinated by the Tuscany Region were deployed to battle the fire.

National rail operator FS has activated service reprogramming, requesting replacement bus services. Rail traffic can only resume following clearance from the fire brigade and technical inspections of the rail infrastructure by RFI engineers.
