The iconic Strada della Forra (Road of the Gorge) in the municipality of Tremosine on Lake Garda has been closed due to severe weather and a high risk of landslides. The decision was made by technicians from the Provincial Authority alongside geologists who are monitoring heavy rainfall that could trigger rockfalls along the route, which has been closed for extended periods in the past for safety work.
The precautionary closure was enacted by official ordinance and is linked to a hydrogeological risk alert issued yesterday by the Lombardy Region. Under normal conditions, the provincial road is a one-way route ascending from Tremosine and is prohibited to pedestrians. It will remain off-limits until the severe weather emergency has passed.
A technical and geological survey will be conducted to verify the stability of the rock face before the road is reopened.
