Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that extending an invitation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the upcoming Alaska meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin would be the optimal course of action under current circumstances.
“I believe President Zelensky will be invited. Emerging reports suggest his participation in the Trump-Putin summit is possible. This would be the best decision, and I expect it to occur,” Kosiniak-Kamysz told PAP news agency, as reported by Ukrinform.
The minister disclosed recent discussions with top Trump advisors, noting their “determination to achieve peace objectives.” He emphasized Poland’s commitment to “do everything possible for a just peace,” adding that a ceasefire agreement involving Zelensky is now “closer than ever.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that should such an accord materialize on August 15—the anniversary of Poland’s 1920 victory over Bolshevik forces at the Battle of Warsaw—it would represent “the most beautiful gift” for the region and its future. Poland stands ready to support potential peacekeeping operations in Ukraine with logistical and infrastructural aid, though its troops would remain on Polish territory.
