A 75-year-old retired Italian teacher, Emilia Nobili, was murdered in her home in Poggiridenti, Sondrio province, late Friday evening in a suspected femicide. Her husband, a Moroccan national ten years her junior, has been arrested. Carabinieri officers apprehended the husband hours after the killing during a routine traffic stop while he was driving his car in the neighboring Lecco province. He subsequently confessed to the crime and provided details leading to the recovery of the murder weapon and the bloodstained clothes he had discarded. Nobili, a former literature teacher, was killed by multiple stab wounds around 11 PM. Neighbors raised the alarm after hearing screams and noises from the couple’s residence. Investigators have not yet commented on the motive. Despite previous arrests of her husband for domestic abuse and concerns expressed by her family, particularly her son, Nobili had reportedly allowed him to return to their home.
