The flag of the Democratic Party (PD) was ripped down and set on fire at its local headquarters in the San Basilio neighborhood of Rome. Party officials have denounced it as an act of intimidation against a highly active chapter that, in a challenging area like San Basilio, clearly bothers someone.
“We will not be intimidated,” said Enzo Foschi, secretary of the PD for Rome. “Our solidarity goes out to all the members of the chapter, and we thank the law enforcement agencies for their prompt intervention.”
Foschi noted this is the latest in a series of attacks, stating, “It is yet another act—the last time it was our office in Montespaccato—with which the chapters of the Democratic Party in Rome are being targeted. We will continue to be present in neighborhoods across the city with our activities and the commitment of our members. Anyone who thinks they can suffocate or close our offices with these gestures is deluding themselves.”
