Over 50,000 Attend Rivolto Air Show for Frecce Tricolori’s 65th Anniversary

More than 50,000 guests and spectators are participating today at the Rivolto (Udine) air base for the second day of the Air Show celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori. The base is home to the Italian Air Force’s 2nd Wing and the 313th Acrobatic Training Group.

The event, which has drawn spectators, industry professionals, and aviation enthusiasts, features performances by foreign aerobatic teams from Spain, France, Croatia, Poland, Finland, Switzerland, Turkey, and Latvia. The program is rich with aerial displays and flyovers by modern and historical aircraft, alongside a static exhibition of aircraft and display areas. These include a section dedicated to the history of the 2nd Wing, a space exploration area with models and memorabilia from Italian ventures, and an interactive zone with flight simulators and virtual reality headsets for an immersive flying experience.

Also featured is the charitable initiative “A Gift from the Sky for the Bambino Gesù Hospital.” This 2025 campaign, supported by voluntary donations from Air Force personnel, private citizens, and associations, aims to raise funds for medical equipment and technologies for the Rome-based pediatric hospital.

Friuli Venezia Giulia Governor Massimiliano Fedriga, present at Rivolto, stated, “This is a historic day for our region and for Italy: the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region thanks the Frecce Tricolori and the Air Force for this event, which further enhances the presence of the Pan in Codroipo, in the heart of our region.” He added that the team is “a fundamental part of our territory,” and the regional administration gave its utmost to ensure the event’s success, noting the “extraordinary turnout and coverage on national television.” Fedriga called the aerobatic team “a national pride that becomes international when it streaks across the world, demonstrating Italian excellence.” He also noted that the team would fly over the Formula One Grand Prix circuit before the race start today before returning to Rivolto for their final exhibition.

Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Gen. Antonio Conserva, the Commander of the 2nd Wing, Col. Giovanni Lodato, and the Commander of the Combat Forces Command, Gen. Marco Lant. Governor Fedriga met with them, as well as with the Undersecretary of Defense, Isabella Rauti.
