Ostia’s historic Fishing Village will host the 60th edition of the “Sagra della Tellina” (Clam Festival) from August 22 to 31, serving approximately 4,000 kilograms of clams prepared according to traditional Roman recipes. This beloved summer event annually draws thousands to celebrate local gastronomy and maritime heritage.
Organizer Massimo De Fazio announced a diverse program for all ages, attributing this year’s abundant clam harvest to biological rest periods and certified fishermen’s efforts. “The festival revives Ostia’s cultural traditions while fostering community joy and togetherness,” stated De Fazio.
Nightly live music, cultural performances, local product stalls, and children’s activities will animate the festival. The official opening occurs on August 22 at 6 PM, culminating in the evocative “Marriage with the Sea” maritime procession at 6:30 PM on August 30. Romans, Ostia residents, and tourists are expected to attend the festivities.
