The historic Fishermen’s Hamlet in Ostia will host the 60th edition of the “Sagra della Tellina” (Clam Festival) from August 22nd to 31st. Approximately 4 tons of clams, prepared according to traditional Roman recipes, will be served during the popular summer event that draws thousands annually to celebrate local culture and cuisine.
“For the festival’s 60th anniversary, we’ve curated a rich and diverse program catering to all tastes and ages,” stated organizer Massimo De Fazio. “This season’s clam harvest has been exceptionally abundant so far, with excellent prospects continuing due to biological rest periods and certified fishermen’s efforts. The festival offers a chance to rediscover Ostia’s traditions and share joyful community moments.”
The event, eagerly anticipated by Romans, locals, and tourists, will feature evening performances, live music, local product stands, and children’s activities. The official opening is scheduled for Friday, August 22nd at 6 PM. The evocative maritime procession “Wedding with the Sea” will take place on Saturday, August 30th at 6:30 PM.
