Italy’s Civil Protection Department has issued an orange-level weather alert for sectors of Veneto and Lombardy for tomorrow. A broader yellow alert is in effect for the entire territories of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Alto Adige, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna, as well as for parts of Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio, Molise, and Campania.
According to the official bulletin, scattered to widespread precipitation, including showers and thunderstorms, is forecast to begin this afternoon over Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, and Tuscany. The severe weather system is expected to extend to southern Lazio and Campania, particularly along coastal areas, by early tomorrow morning.
The meteorological phenomena will be accompanied by intensely heavy downpours, frequent lightning, possible localized hail, and strong wind gusts.
