Archbishop Santo Marcianò delivered his first public address at Frosinone’s city hall, quoting St. Augustine and expressing gratitude to his predecessor, Ambrogio Spreafico. He was welcomed by Mayor Riccardo Mastrangeli, the full city council, Provincial President Luca Di Stefano, and Prefect Ernesto Liguori.
In his speech, the new Bishop of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino stated, “There is a great need for humanity. I invite Frosinone to be a city filled with humanity.” Simultaneously, as ‘in persona episcopi,’ Marcianò will also serve as Bishop of Anagni-Alatri, noting that the two dioceses “will walk and grow together.”
Following the address, the Archbishop walked to the Church of San Benedetto opposite the Prefecture for a vesting ceremony with liturgical garments. A procession then continued on foot to the cathedral for Mass.
Monsignor Ambrogio Spreafico wished his successor a city and diocese as supportive as the one he experienced during his 17-year tenure. The appointment was formalized with the reading of the papal bull naming Monsignor Santo Marcianò as the new bishop and the symbolic passing of the pastoral staff from Spreafico to Marcianò.
