Traffic was blocked on the southbound lanes of Tel Aviv’s Ayalon Highway at the start of a day of intense protests across Israel, calling for a deal to secure the release of hostages and an end to the fighting in Gaza. According to The Times of Israel, the day of mobilization, announced by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, began at 6:29 a.m.—the exact time Hamas launched its attack on October 7, 2023. Demonstrators unfurled Israeli flags outside the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, and by 7 a.m., protests had commenced at major intersections nationwide. Rallies are scheduled throughout the day in Tel Aviv, with marches across the country set to begin at 2 p.m. The day will culminate in the evening with a large march from Tel Aviv’s Savidor Railway Station to Hostages Square, where a final protest will be held.
