Prosecutors investigating the deaths of three workers who fell from a lift in Naples on July 25th are concentrating their attention on a pipe of varying cross-section, fractured at a visible weld point, and the tightening of the anchor pins during the removal of the equipment today. The crucial forensic examination, ordered by the Naples Prosecutor’s Office (led by PM Stella Castaldo and Deputy Prosecutor Antonio Ricci), began this morning. Present were consultants and lawyers for the suspects: Mauro Zollo (for entrepreneur Pietroluongo), Giovanni Fusco (for entrepreneur Napolitano), Dezio Ferraro (for the building administrator), and Mattia Floccher and Giuseppe Anzelmo (for the works manager). Lawyers for the victims’ families, including Amedeo Di Pietro and Luigi Cinque, were also present. Sources indicate investigators found some anchor pins were so loose they could be unscrewed by hand, without requiring tools. The examination was specifically planned to focus on bolts and pins. A large crane was set up to remove the lift structure from which the workers fell while transporting two rolls of bituminous material to the roof terrace. The defense team for the four suspects comprises lawyers Mauro Zollo, Giovanni Fusco, Mattia Floccher, Giuseppe Anzelmo, and Dezio Ferraro.
