Following the murder of Charlie Kirk, the alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, joked in a chat with an acquaintance that the manhunt was for his “doppelgänger,” reports The New York Times. The exchange occurred after the FBI released images of a young man in a hat and glasses leaving Utah Valley University and asked for the public’s help to identify him. The acquaintance tagged Robinson on the messaging platform Discord, attached the images, and wrote “wya” (where you at), suggesting he resembled the wanted individual. Robinson reportedly replied within a minute, writing that his apparent doppelgänger was trying to “frame” him.
