A civil party psychiatrist testified today that the murder of Sharon Verzeni was a crime committed “for the pleasure of committing it,” comparable to a sadistic homicide. Dr. Massimo Biza told the Court of Assizes in Bergamo that the defendant, Moussa Sangare, “wanted to experience a strong emotion, confronting the fact of being capable of committing a serious act.” Sangare is on trial for the killing of Verzeni on the night of July 30, 2024, in Terno d’Isola.
“The fact that he had ‘discarded’ other potential victims before Sharon demonstrates a terrifying lucidity,” Biza added. Both he and the prosecution’s appointed expert, Sergio Monchieri, deemed superfluous the further investigations requested by the defense’s psychological consultant, Alessandro Calvo. Calvo argues that Sangare’s personality disorder is “sufficient to compromise his mental capacity and volition.”
