The cruise ship MSC World Europa has entered the port of Naples after being stalled for hours off the coast of Ponza due to an engine failure. The vessel, carrying 8,500 people including 2,000 crew members, later resumed its journey under its own power. After technicians partially resolved the malfunction, the ship steadily increased its speed.
Once docked, passengers who have completed their cruise will disembark, and hundreds of new passengers waiting to begin their journey will board. Before a decision is made on resuming its voyage, the MSC World Europa will undergo thorough technical inspections in the coming hours. If no further issues are identified, the ship will be cleared to proceed to its next scheduled stop in Messina. The MSC World Europa is on a seven-day itinerary in the Mediterranean.
