A Milan preliminary investigations judge, Cristian Mariani, has validated the arrest and ordered pre-trial detention for 64-year-old Nunzia Antonia Mancini, accused of murdering her partner Vincenzo Ferrigno. Mancini was apprehended overnight between August 14 and 15 after personally calling emergency services (112) to confess to killing the 73-year-old in their Via Pomposa residence in Milan’s Corvetto district.
Authorities report Mancini stated, “I couldn’t take care of him anymore” as her motive for the attack. Ferrigno, who suffered from multiple strokes and required constant care, was under Mancini’s supervision. During the incident, she allegedly stabbed him repeatedly before suffocating him with a pillow.
