Milan’s FTSE MIB index traded flat (+0.1% at 40,733 points) amid sharp declines for cement maker Buzzi Unicem, which plunged 5.13% following its half-year results. Banking stocks also retreated, particularly institutions approaching earnings releases. Monte dei Paschi (MPS), set to report tomorrow, fell 1%, while BPER Banca dropped 0.97%. Banco BPM is anticipated to close down 0.32%.
Gaining ground, hearing-aid specialist Amplifon led advancers (+3.77%), followed by aerospace firm Leonardo (+1.88%) and payments processor Nexi (+1.43%).
The yield spread between Italian 10-year BTPs and German Bunds held steady at 80 basis points, with the Italian benchmark yield rising to 3.44%.
