Milan’s FTSE MIB index closed up 0.65% at 41,009 points on Tuesday. Leading the gains, Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) soared 5% following its earnings release. Assicurazioni Generali advanced 2.27% as it confirmed it will evaluate proposals from Mediobanca, which itself gained 4%.
Banking stocks broadly rose, with Bper Banca climbing 3.2%, Banco BPM up 2.18%, and Banca Popolare di Sondrio gaining 1.7%, buoyed by sector earnings reports.
Telecom Italia (TIM) rose 1.98% and Interpump Group increased 3.38%, both confirming their financial guidance. Leonardo also posted a solid gain of 3%. Among the decliners, Ferrari fell 2.48%, Diasorin dropped 2.2%, and STMicroelectronics (STMicro) declined 1.4%.
