Milan Court Assigns Parental Responsibility for Minors in Fatal Accident to Municipality

The Juvenile Court Judge of Milan, Ciro Iacomino, has assigned the parental responsibility for three of the minors involved in the fatal accident caused by Cecilia De Astis to the Municipality of Milan. The minors include two brothers, aged 11 and 13—the elder of whom was driving—and an 11-year-old girl, all of whom were in the car that struck and killed the woman. In the case of the young girl, the court order will be formally served to her mother, who has not been located. In a hearing today, the judge heard testimony from the mother of the two boys and from two different fathers, who were brought to court under escort by penitentiary police as they are currently incarcerated. The father of a fourth boy, whose whereabouts are unknown, is scheduled to be heard tomorrow; the same measure assigning responsibility to the municipality will also be taken for him. The three minors, who were located by Local Police officers while fleeing the nomadic settlement where they lived, will remain in protected community facilities.
