The MICAM footwear fair, a hallmark event for fashion shoes, is celebrating a century of history. From September 7th to 9th, Fieramilano Rho will host the 100th edition, welcoming 870 brands—401 Italian and 469 international. The show’s origins trace back to Vigevano, the cradle of Italian footwear, which hosted the first edition in 1931. Since 1974, the event has been managed by the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers (Assocalzaturifici).
The centenary edition opens with an inaugural ceremony featuring the cancellation of a special postage stamp from the ‘Excellences of the Production System and Made in Italy’ series. While the fair will premiere the latest trends for Spring-Summer 2026, a special exhibition, ‘100 steps into the future,’ will retrace the history of footwear fashion through iconic images that chart the evolution of taste, style, and technology.
The event also sees the return of the Trends & Materials area, designed to optimize purchasing and reduce unsold inventory. A dedicated ‘Future of Retail’ space will showcase innovative ideas set to change the retail landscape. The ‘MICAM Next’ program, curated by Wired Italia, will place a central focus on innovation with dedicated meetings. The exhibition of young Italian startups, a collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Maeci), will also continue.
This 100th edition of MICAM coincides with the 80th anniversary of its organizer, Assocalzaturifici, the national association representing over 400 companies in the sector.
