Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has denounced opposition efforts to bring her government before the International Criminal Court (ICC). In a Facebook statement, Meloni targeted left-wing figures including Bonelli, Fratoianni, and associates, who previously pushed Brussels for infringement proceedings against Italy.
“The same individuals now aim for an international trial, exploiting the Gaza humanitarian crisis in a wholly instrumental manner—as if even this were Italy’s fault,” Meloni stated.
She outlined three core criticisms: Firstly, that the left “consistently seeks external intervention” having failed to win domestically. Secondly, that they show “absolute disregard for Italy’s global image and reputation.” Thirdly, that their sole strategy is “trying to eliminate opponents through judicial channels,” having “long abandoned democratic means.”
Meloni concluded defiantly: “They will not succeed.”
