Viterbo Mayor Chiara Frontini has strongly condemned posters displayed by the Young Democrats targeting Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The minister is in Viterbo to attend the transportation of Santa Rosa’s Machine this evening.
In an official statement, Frontini expressed “solidarity with Minister Tajani for the posters put up this morning by the Young Democrats. Santa Rosa should not be used for politics.” She acknowledged that “the issue of the Palestinian genocide is of fundamental importance,” noting that this year’s event was dedicated to peace, but stressed that exploiting September 3rd—a historic symbol of civic unity—for political attacks was unacceptable.
The mayor also confirmed that the city council will soon debate a motion supporting the “Two Peoples, Two States” solution and the creation of an independent, peaceful Palestinian state. However, she emphasized that today was not the day for escalating political rhetoric, concluding with her “full support for Minister Tajani following these attacks.”
