Macron Warns of Further Sanctions if Russia Continues to Reject Peace Talks

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that if Russia continues to reject concrete peace negotiations—”the only conclusion that can be drawn from its choices”—then further sanctions will be adopted in coordination with the United States. Macron made the declaration following a meeting of the ‘coalition of the willing’ at the Élysée Palace, adding that this position was also expressed by U.S. President Donald Trump during their recent phone call. He promised “clear answers” to Moscow’s refusal to make progress.
