The Civil Protection Agency of the Lombardy region has issued a red alert for hydrogeological risk, effective from midnight on Thursday, August 28. The warning is in force for the areas of *Laghi e Prealpi Varesine*, Valchiavenna, Lario, and the Western Prealps. An orange and yellow alert is forecast for other parts of Lombardy.
“I appeal to citizens,” said Romano La Russa, Lombardy’s Regional Councilor for Civil Protection, “to exercise the utmost caution in the designated areas, to follow the instructions of local authorities, and to monitor updates from the regional Civil Protection agency. It is important to minimize travel in the areas affected by the alerts and to implement all necessary behaviors to ensure personal safety.”
