The Lombardy Region’s Civil Protection agency has issued a red alert for hydrogeological risk, effective from midnight on Thursday, August 28th. The warning is in effect for the areas of the Lakes and Varesine Prealps, specifically Valchiavenna, Lario, and the Western Prealps. An orange and yellow alert is forecast for other zones across Lombardy.
Regional Councilor for Civil Protection, Romano La Russa, appealed to the public: “I urge citizens in the indicated areas to exercise the utmost caution, to follow the instructions of local authorities, and to monitor updates from the regional Civil Protection. It is important to minimize travel in the areas affected by the alerts and to enact all necessary behaviors to guarantee personal safety.”
