Lawyer Annamaria Bernardini de Pace, leading a team of 12 attorneys, has already collected “several hundred” reports from women, primarily “through associations,” related to the sexist forum Phica. The prominent family lawyer and her team have thus begun work to initiate criminal complaints, as well as civil lawsuits seeking compensation from the platforms involved.
“The idea,” Bernardini de Pace explained, “is to ‘rape’ the jurisprudence, just as these women who suffered a gang rape were violated. If we assemble a thousand complaints, perhaps the judges will start to take this phenomenon seriously.”
She stated that a first meeting among the legal team, which includes criminal lawyer David Leggi, is scheduled for tomorrow. “It is time,” she affirmed, “for women to realize that we must take advantage of this situation to deliver an educational blow to men; otherwise, men will emerge from this even more strengthened in their belief that they can remain unpunished and continue to blackmail women, even in their roles as wives and mothers.” She declared it is the moment to “demonstrate that sisterhood exists—it depends on us, or we are destined to lose.”
Effectively starting tomorrow, the legal team will begin verifying all the names from the reports (the “several hundred” already gathered from “various associations”). “We will start collecting legal proxies and, above all, we will study a new way to resolve this situation, having already gathered jurisprudence, legal doctrine, and regulatory references.” She added, “We must propose a new interpretation, one that is adequate for social media and platforms.”
The lawyer added that, unfortunately, no reports have yet been received concerning the Facebook group ‘mia moglie’ (my wife). She noted that in past similar cases, “judges have not taken women’s complaints into account.” “If we assemble them and present a thousand or more, perhaps they will take notice,” she continued. She also reiterated, after having already provided her email address (abdp@abdp.it), that “there will be no high fees to pay, just the minimum necessary for legal expenses, and on this front as well, the more we are, the less it will cost” for the legal battle.
