Lampedusa Shipwreck Leaves 12-17 Missing, Death Toll Rises to 20

Between 12 and 17 people remain missing following a shipwreck off Lampedusa, adding to a death toll of at least 20, of which eight bodies have been recovered. UNHCR spokesperson Filippo Ungaro provided the figures based on information gathered by the organization, which is assisting the 60 survivors housed at the local hotspot. Ungaro further stated that the central Mediterranean route has claimed 675 lives, either confirmed dead or missing, since the start of the year.
