A section of Via Trionfale in Rome, closed since last June for works on the “Ottavia-Trionfale Water Main” project, has reopened to traffic as of today. The Acea Ato 2 and Acea Infrastructure project was completed one month ahead of schedule and before the start of the new school year.
Following the reopening of the stretch between Via Giuseppe Taverna and Viale dei Monfortani, work continues to upgrade the water infrastructure. Consequently, Via dell’Acquedotto Paolo remains closed from its intersection with Via Trionfale up to number 14, and Viale dei Monfortani is closed from the Via Trionfale intersection to number 11. Pedestrian access will be maintained to ensure residents and businesses can be reached. To mitigate the impact on traffic and reduce inconvenience, a free 126-space car park on Via De Gubernatis remains available.
“We have completed this phase of the work one month early,” said Marco Salis, President of Acea Ato 2. “This intervention by Acea ATO 2 will enhance the transport of water from the main aqueducts to the network pipes directed towards the city center and all western Rome neighborhoods up to the coast, serving a user base of approximately one million people.”
“Today we are reopening a fundamental road for circulation in the area,” said Ornella Segnalini, Councilor for Public Works and Infrastructure of Rome Capital. “I thank Acea for the work carried out on this important site, and we hope the ongoing works in this quadrant can be completed as soon as possible to return to normal traffic management.”
The “Ottavia-Trionfale Water Main” is a project with a total value of over €94 million, partly financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. It involves the construction of a new 5.2-kilometer connection line from the Ottavia Water Center to the new “Pineta Sacchetti” Water Center. The overall project duration is estimated at 24 months, with an expected completion date of March 2026.
