Justin Yamanouchi, the Roman rapper known professionally as Jesto, has died at age 41. A long-standing pillar of Italy’s underground rap and freestyle scene, his passing was announced by his brother Taiyo “Hyst” Yamanouchi.
In a tribute, Taiyo confirmed the artist died overnight on July 31, describing him as “a star of Italian rap and a man of immense spiritual stature.” He emphasized Jesto’s enduring influence: “He leaves not a void but an invaluable legacy and a drive for moral and spiritual growth that kindred souls will recognize and cultivate.”
Jesto was the son of late singer-songwriter Stefano Rosso, who passed away in 2008. A final farewell will be held on Tuesday, August 5, at 11 a.m. in Rome’s Santa Maria in Trastevere church.
