Italian Chamber President Fontana Condemns Violent Protest Acts

Lorenzo Fontana, President of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies, has expressed solidarity with citizens, law enforcement, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni following serious incidents involving protesters in several cities. He stated that acts of vandalism, violence, and hate speech must be condemned, as they undermine the motivations and legitimacy of any demonstration. “I express my solidarity with the citizens, the law enforcement agencies, and the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, for the grave actions carried out by some demonstrators in various cities,” Fontana said. He emphasized that such behavior “overshadows the reasons and validity of any protest.”
