Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has approved the Israel Defence Forces’ (IDF) overall operational plan framework for the Gaza Strip, the IDF announced via Telegram. The approval followed a situational assessment reviewing IDF actions to date, including ongoing operations in Gaza City’s Zeitoun area initiated yesterday. The IDF stated the core concept for the Strip’s “next phases,” developed in line with political directives, was also presented and approved during the meeting. Lt. Gen. Zamir emphasized “the importance of increasing troop readiness and preparation for reserve call-ups, while ensuring the necessary time to reorganize and recuperate ahead of upcoming missions.”
Meanwhile, Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported at least 24 Palestinians, including five children and five aid seekers, were killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since dawn, citing Palestinian medical sources and the Red Crescent. The broadcaster stated 12 people died in an Israeli airstrike targeting a home in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, according to the al-Ahli Arab Hospital.
Separately, Gabriel Romanelli, the parish priest of Gaza’s Holy Family Church, posted a reassuring “We are fine” message on social media, accompanied by photos and videos showing columns of smoke from nearby explosions. Approximately 500 people are currently sheltering at the church compound.
