A fire that broke out in a room prompted the evacuation of 434 guests from a hotel in Mestre (Venice) by firefighters, who intervened around 12:15 PM.
The flames developed on the fifth floor of the building, which is located on Via Ceccherini near one of the exits of the Tangenziale ring road. Of the 434 evacuated guests, 160 are minors. Evacuation operations are ongoing, with staff working to verify the whereabouts of all occupants.
The blaze was confined to a single room and has been contained and brought under control. However, smoke spread through a large portion of the building, making the full evacuation necessary.
Teams from the Mestre Fire Department and volunteer firefighters from Mirano are operating on the scene, along with law enforcement and emergency medical personnel from Suem 118, who are working to determine the cause of the fire.
