Heavy rain began falling over Milan starting at 2 AM, with nearly 50 millimeters (2 inches) recorded within a two-hour period. The intense rainfall also affected the nearby city of Monza. On Via Feltre, the Lambro River surpassed a level of 2.4 meters after rising 1.7 meters in two hours, leading to the ordered evacuation of the CEAS community (Centro Ambrosiano di Solidarietà). This information was confirmed by Milan’s Councilor for Civil Protection, Marco Granelli, on his social media channels.
As a precaution, Via Vittorini at Ponte Lambro was closed using mobile flood barriers due to the dangerously high river level. Rainfall was less intense over the Seveso river basin. While the retention basin there is on standby, it has not yet been activated.
