London’s Heathrow Airport has evacuated Terminal 4 due to a reported leak of hazardous materials. Sky News reports that emergency services are on the scene.
The evacuation was ordered over suspicions of a dangerous substance leak, according to a Heathrow spokesperson. The terminal is one of five at the airport, which is Europe’s busiest. Images from the scene, broadcast by media outlets, showed a column of smoke emerging from the building.
As a precaution, trains serving the airport are no longer stopping at the affected terminal. Emergency crews, including fire engines, ambulances, and specialist teams, have been deployed to the area. Passengers have been moved outside.
