The crane that will be used for the launch of the new Giulio Rocco Bridge, connecting the Ostiense and Garbatella districts, has arrived on the construction site. The machine, standing 53 meters tall with a 700-ton capacity, will be used to lift and position the pre-assembled metal deck structure. The announcement was made by Rome’s city government, Campidoglio.
“This crane’s arrival marks the final phase of a long-awaited project for our citizens,” stated Public Works Councillor Ornella Segnalini. “After being closed for nearly a decade, the Giulio Rocco Bridge will finally reopen to traffic by the end of 2025. I thank the Lazio Region, Astral, and Mobility Councillor Fabrizio Ghera for their essential work.”
The project, with a total value of €4.8 million, is being carried out by Astral under an agreement between the City of Rome and the Lazio Region. It is co-financed by the two entities and coordinated with Rome’s Department of Public Works.
