German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin “should not be under any illusion” that Germany’s support for Ukraine might waver. He made the declaration upon his arrival in Kyiv for an unannounced visit, as reported by the Reuters news agency.
“On the contrary, we remain the second-largest supporter of Ukraine worldwide and the largest in Europe,” he added, emphasizing that “Ukraine can continue to count on Germany.”
Klingbeil urged Putin to demonstrate a genuine interest in a peace process for the most brutal war Europe has seen in the last 80 years.
