A 62-year-old man from Ancona was killed in a tragic boating accident off the coast of Ancona. The victim was struck by the sail’s mast while aboard a vessel with four other people. The impact caused him to fall into the water, where he was subsequently pulled under and fatally injured by the boat’s propeller.
Despite immediate attempts by the victim’s son to administer first aid, the man’s wounds proved to be mortal. The Harbour Master’s office was alerted and reached the boat, which was then escorted to the port of Ancona. Emergency services, including two ambulances from the Croce Gialla of Ancona, one from the Red Cross, and a medical car, were dispatched to the scene but were unable to save the man.
This incident marks the second sea-related fatality in the Ancona province within hours. Earlier in the afternoon, a 23-year-old woman from Monza drowned while swimming near the beach of Sirolo.
