A 70-year-old man drowned this afternoon in the waters off the beach of Buggerru in southern Sardinia. According to initial reports, the victim was a tourist from Lombardy. The bather got into difficulty due to strong Maestral winds and was reached and brought to shore for first aid. An ambulance and a 118 emergency helicopter were dispatched to the scene, but nothing could be done for him.
