Veterinarians at Langhe Safari Park in Murazzano, Piedmont performed a necessary claw-trimming procedure on Regina, a 23-year-old female jaguar. Due to her advanced age, Regina could no longer naturally wear down her claws, leading to overgrowth that caused significant discomfort and pain, particularly in one paw, hindering her ability to walk.
To ensure the veterinarian’s safety during the delicate operation, Regina required anesthesia. Given her age, park staff anxiously monitored the situation until she safely regained consciousness. The procedure was successful. Regina has now resumed walking without the previous pain and discomfort in her affected paw.
