An eight-year-old girl has died following a serious road accident on the E45 highway in the Resina Nord area near Perugia, Umbria. Her parents and a brother were also injured in the crash.
According to preliminary reports, the family was traveling in a camper that had broken down and was subsequently hit by a tractor-trailer. The heavy goods vehicle also collided with an Anas road assistance van that had stopped at the scene to provide help.
The girl’s father sustained the most serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital in Perugia. The mother and another person were hospitalized in Città di Castello; their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening. The identity of the third injured individual, initially thought to be another family member, has not yet been confirmed.
The highway was temporarily closed in the Perugia municipality section to allow for rescue and recovery operations. Traffic was diverted onto adjacent roads: southbound traffic at the Pierantonio junction (km 95.9) and northbound traffic at the Resina junction (km 87.6). Anas personnel and traffic police were on site to manage the flow and work to restore normal traffic conditions as quickly as possible.
