A 34-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a 28-year-old doctor on duty in the emergency room of a Mantova hospital. The intoxicated individual reportedly attacked the physician with a punch in the triage area during the night between last Friday and Saturday. After being examined by colleagues, the victim was given a seven-day recovery prognosis. Medical staff present at the scene restrained the assailant until the arrival of the Carabinieri from the Mantova Radio Mobile Unit. The police have since obtained footage of the incident from the ER’s surveillance system. The 34-year-old, a provincial resident, has been formally charged with aggravated assault against healthcare personnel.
