The heavily decomposed remains of an adult male were discovered this evening in a wooded area known as Schito, on the outskirts between Sora and Broccostella in the Frosinone province. The individual is believed to have been deceased for at least two weeks, and possibly several months, with evidence indicating the body was subsequently scavenged by wild animals.
The discovery was made by a hiker who alerted police around 9 p.m. yesterday. The mobile squad from Frosinone and Deputy Prosecutor Chiara D’Orefice from Cassino were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters and civil protection units from Sora also responded.
The area has been cordoned off, traffic has been blocked, and the site is being illuminated by floodlights to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
