A major anti-drug operation was launched at dawn today in Civitavecchia, a province of Rome, by joint forces of the State Police and the Carabinieri. Acting on a request from the Civitavecchia Prosecutor’s Office, personnel from the local police precinct and Carabinieri station are executing six pre-trial detention orders. Four suspects are being jailed and two are under house arrest. The individuals are accused of various charges related to narcotics trafficking and dealing, as well as other crimes connected to the group’s criminal activities.
These new measures follow other restrictive orders already carried out within the same criminal investigation, which targeted three other individuals already in prison and four more who are under investigation. The operation, dubbed “Nerone” (Nero) because it originated from the group’s arson attacks, has succeeded in dismantling a syndicate deeply rooted in the local territory and responsible for a complex system of illicit activities.
Further details on the investigation and the specifics of the intervention will be revealed during a press conference scheduled at the Prosecutor’s Office at 3:00 PM.
