A judge in Lodi, Anna Cerreta, has validated the arrest and ordered pre-trial detention in prison for a 25-year-old man from Mali. He stands accused of aggravated sexual violence and bodily harm against an 18-year-old woman. The attack occurred on the evening of August 30th at the entrance to the San Zenone al Lambro railway station in the province of Milan.
The request for detention was made by prosecutor Martina Parisi, who cited a high risk of flight and the potential for the suspect to re-offend. This assessment was partly based on the man’s prior police record, which includes a previous complaint for abuse filed by his partner.
During a custodial interrogation held yesterday, the man—who was arrested last Wednesday—exercised his right to remain silent and did not answer questions.
