Just days after the city council approved a resolution on Thursday for the sale of the San Siro stadium to Inter and AC Milan, the ‘Referendum X San Siro Committee’ is once again demanding that citizens be given a voice, re-proposing a referendum that had already been rejected by the city’s Collegio dei Garanti.
“To date, we believe the conditions have returned to demand that both referendum questions be submitted to the citizens,” stated Anna Camposampiero, the Committee’s president, at a press conference. “The first is an abrogative question to repeal the resolution on the public interest of the stadium project, and the second is a propositive question to demand the restructuring of the Meazza.”
Consequently, the Committee has decided to resubmit the questions for review by the city’s Collegio dei Garanti. If the panel approves the questions, the Committee will then be required to gather 14,000 signatures to move forward.
