A major thoroughfare in central Naples was completely closed and secured by police on Tuesday due to the presence of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The high-security measures were implemented for his attendance at the “Falafel and Democracy” conference.
The event will also feature Nasser Al-Kidwa, the former Foreign Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, who is scheduled to appear via video link.
Police forces have completely shut down Via Carbonara, the location of the conference venue. The road, which connects Via Foria to Piazza Garibaldi, is barricaded by police vans blocking access to all cars and motorcycles. A small group of young protesters was observed in the area, waiting on a street corner with rolled-up Palestinian flags.
